Genevieve Tawiah

Qualifications: BSc (hons) Physiotherapy, APPI matwork, Polestar Pilates comprehensive rehabilitation

Genevieve trained at Manchester Metropolitan University and qualified as a physiotherapist in 2016. She is passionate about improving her patient’s awareness and understanding of their body and takes a team approach with them in aim of optimising their recovery journey.

She has extensive experience in the performing arts industry – working with actors/actresses and singers to advise on strategies to prevent injury and maintain their physical health whilst being in show. This is in conjunction with treatment to support their recovery of injuries and efficient return to activity on shows such as West End’s Harry Potter -Cursed Child, Wicked, War Horse UK Tour, Strictly Come Dancing and more.

She has a keen interest in physical activity and its role in supporting mental and physical health. Genevieve trained with Australian physiotherapy and Pilates Institute to gain her mat work 1 and 2 qualifications. She is currently undergoing further comprehensive training on the Polestar Pilates course to better her ability to use Pilates as a tool to aid her patients returning to exercise.

Genevieve has found Pilates particularly useful in training body awareness, co-ordination, and control in the recovery of injuries, or in further optimising performance in her career as a physiotherapist.

Working with individuals post road traffic accidents or post-surgical presentations, she has found Pilates to be a manageable way for her patients to re-connect with their body and gradually start the return to exercise journey.

Her Pilates expertise has also proven to be a beneficial adjunct to vocal physiotherapy treatment – in its ability to better help her patients highlight regions of muscular imbalance influencing their singing stance or ability to access their support with voice use.

Genevieve continues to train herself in a variety of dance styles, kick boxing, yoga and Pilates.

Genevieve aims to take a flexible approach to treatment and application of her Pilates knowledge. She aims to ensure her patients understand options for their recovery journey, and ensure her patients feel supported in their goals.

You can find her at our Chelsea branch.
