Dr Alex Carr
Clinical Research Fellow
QUALIFICATIONS: MBChB (Auckland), PGDipSurgAnat (Otago)
Born and bred in New Zealand, Alex graduated from The University of Auckland Medical School in 2017 and spent his junior doctor years at Wellington Hospital before making the move to the big smoke of London in 2019 to take up the role of Clinical Research Fellow at the Spinal Unit of The Royal London Hospital under the guidance of orthopaedic spinal surgeon Mr. Alexander Montgomery. As part of this research, he will be conducting studies related to the role of Pilates in the post-operative rehabilitation setting. It is an exciting time for spine surgery at The Royal London, with Pilates representing one main aspect of the myriad of research underway.
With a strong background in football having played for New Zealand throughout the age group levels, Alex is excited and fascinated to learn more about the human body, kinaesthetic awareness and functional movement from the team at Complete Pilates and hopes that by the end of his two year research period he might actually just be able to touch his toes!
When not working, researching or learning the ropes of Pilates you’ll be bound to find Alex roaming the streets checking out the sites of London and further afield – or at St. James’ Park, Newcastle cheering on the ‘toon!
