Hi, my name is Susie and I am a Chartered Physiotherapist.
I graduated in 2006 with a first class honours degree from St George’s, University of London. I also hold a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Goldsmiths College. Practicing physiotherapy gives me the perfect opportunity to blend my interest in mind and body and I really value connecting with my patients to treat the person, rather than the problem.
I have experience in a wide variety of settings from the NHS, to private practice to working in a private hospital. This includes working at the Trauma centre at the John Radcliffe in Oxford and more recently an award-winning physiotherapy department in a CQC ‘Good’ rated private hospital specialising in elective orthopaedic surgery.
I have continued to learn and acquire skills since qualifying, including specialist shoulder rehabilitation courses, specialist hypermobility training, hydrotherapy, a master’s module in exercise prescription and of course, Pilates.
I trained in APPI Pilates mat work system from 2008, gaining the full teaching qualification in 2012 and I also undertook equipment training in 2017. I have personally found mat work Pilates an excellent way to keep away aches and pains and learn to move well. Equipment Pilates takes rehabilitation to a whole other level through increasing the sensory awareness of the body and giving infinite options to assist or resist movements and I am passionate about helping others discover this.
In my spare time I enjoy keeping active and variety is key for me so I enjoy any combination of running, swimming, cycling, yoga and dance. I was an active member of the London School of Samba for many years where I learned samba drumming and dancing, and took part as a performer in Notting Hill Carnival. I have also been part of a pop choir and am currently learning tap dancing. For balance, I also enjoy lying very flat on my sofa, idling.
