Ami Odendaal

Qualifications: Chartered Physiotherapist (HCPC and CSP registered), BASI Pilates Mat Certified, Polestar Pilates Comprehensive Rehabilitation training

Ami grew up in South Africa where she underwent ballet training in the RAD method. During this time, she sustained knee and ankle injuries for which she required physio rehabilitation. These experiences, along with her love for movement, led her to study physiotherapy. She graduated from Stellenbosch University in 2012 and spent the following years working in public and private clinics, first in South Africa and later in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

It was also during her ballet years that she was first introduced to Pilates. In 2020, she took the opportunity to complete a mat certification under BASI Pilates while in France, where her husband was furthering his studies.

Ami recently moved to the UK where she is excited to continue physiotherapy work focusing on rehabilitation. She regards exercise as paramount to address the underlying causes of pain and bring about lasting results. She is passionate about using Pilates to improve pain related to posture and she enjoys guiding post-operative/post-injury patients through tailored rehabilitation to their previous abilities.

In her free time, Ami does Pilates herself and enjoys baking, travelling and scuba diving.
