Louise Aylwin
Qualifications: Chartered Physiotherapist (CSP, HCPC registered), BSc in Exercise and Sport Science, Polestar Pilates comprehensive rehabilitation.
Hi my name is Louise and I graduated from Queen Margaret University in physiotherapy after completing a BSc in exercise and sport science from Exeter University. After this, I specialised in musculoskeletal physiotherapy and sports injuries, progressing my knowledge further by starting my MSc in Sports Physiotherapy.
Since graduating, I have worked as a sports physiotherapist for a range of elite sports including England Rugby Seven’s, European Tour Golf, Fulham Football Club Academy, ATP tennis, WTA tennis tournament, Great Britain athletes and as a sports masseuse at the England Saxons 2011, Rugby World Cup 2007 and WTA tennis tour in Asia.
I have always loved sports and have been a competitive athlete myself, competing nationally as a 400m hurdler. This has given me a unique insight into how athletes train as well as the injury process and rehabilitation needed. It was my background in sports which led me to Pilates. I realised how the equipment used can help people with all injuries, from immediately after surgery to return to sports. This led me down the route of completing my Polestar Pilates rehabilitation course.
I love helping people and guiding them through their recovery as I have had first-hand experience of injuries. I have a wide range of experience in treating various injuries and focus on treating the cause of the injury rather than just the symptoms. I believe it is essential to have a good relationship and open communication with all members of someone’s rehabilitation team and have developed great relationships with an extensive network of consultants, local GPs, massage therapists and personal trainers and clinical Pilates instructors. My goal is to help get you back to where you want to be, whether your focus is returning to work, sport or activity following surgery or injury.
