How This Skincare Brand Can Help You Live More Consciously
What Does Living Consciously Mean to You?
For the team at Complete Pilates, it means practising mindful forms of exercise, such as Pilates and Yoga, to cultivate mind and body awareness. Building this awareness makes us more present, and this helps us to move – and live – more consciously.
For skincare company BY SARAH LONDON, living consciously also means being aware of the quality and provenance of the products we put on our skin.
It’s why BY SARAH LONDON are so passionate about their natural, organic and ethically-sourced products and transparent labelling of ingredients.
To find out more, we sent Ruth Smith to speak to the team behind the products, sisters Sarah and Lauren. Interested in how this skincare brand can help you live more consciously? Then read on.
Q. Can you tell us what conscious living means to you at BY SARAH LONDON?
For us at BY SARAH LONDON, to live consciously means having full transparency of what you’re putting on your skin, how those ingredients care for your wellbeing and feeling empowered in your choices.
Q. Why do you think this is important to your customers and what made you include it as part of your company ethos?
BY SARAH LONDON was grown out of my sister, Sarah’s, frustration with trying to find skincare to soothe my sensitive skin when was I was recovering from leukaemia six years ago. Even many natural and organic ranges had long, cryptic ingredient lists and often confusing and misleading labelling.
So, Sarah took matters into her own hands, literally! With her knowledge of working in the skincare industry and her childhood passion for skincare, she hand-crafted her own blends from carefully-curated, organic and sustainably-sourced plant-based ingredients. And the seeds of BY SARAH LONDON were created!
We don’t want you to experience any of the frustration or confusion we felt. It’s why we detail a full ingredient list on the front label across our skincare collection, so you know exactly what you’re putting on your skin – with not a synthetic, artificial or hidden ingredient in sight.
Q. You talk about skincare to empower conscious living. How do your products deliver that?
By knowing exactly what you’re putting on your skin. By using the very finest, ethically sourced all-natural and certified-organic, plant based ingredients, our skincare empowers you to care for your skin and the planet.
We use organic ingredients because they are the gold standard! Certified-organic ingredients have flourished under the strictest requirements of organic farming where synthetic pesticides, artificial chemical fertilisers, herbicides and GM crops are prohibited. Their cultivation protects the soil, respects animal welfare and minimises pollution.
We also use glass jars and bottles which can be reused or recycled (no single-use plastic tubes here).

Q. What simple things do you think we can all do to live more consciously?
Knowledge is the key to empowerment and conscious living. Start with ingredient lists and see what you can find: a good rule of thumb for both skincare and food is to stick to products with ingredients that you recognise and can pronounce.
Q. Do you as a team or individually practice any mindful exercise such as Pilates or Yoga?
We hand-blend all of our skincare from our studio in West Sussex, in the heart of the South Downs National Park. We’ll often take a brisk afternoon walk to enjoy the clean air and beautiful landscape and use these moments as a chance to re-connect with nature.
Yoga has been part of my mindful practice for many years and helped me a lot to rebuild my strength after the treatment for leukaemia.
Q. What are your plans as a business over the next year to continue to develop your goals of empowering people to live more consciously?
Sarah and I love sharing the benefits of switching from mainstream, conventional beauty to organic, plant-based skincare – for your skin and the planet. There’s a lot of education that needs to be done and we’re excited to be at the forefront of this movement, helping you to live your most conscious life yet!

What Our Experts Say
At Complete Pilates, we believe mindful movement is one of the most effective ways to live more consciously. Pilates encourages you to slow down, focus on your breath and understand how your body moves. This awareness often extends beyond the studio, helping people make more thoughtful choices about their health, wellbeing and lifestyle.
Conclusion
Living consciously does not have to mean changing everything overnight. It starts with small, thoughtful choices that help you feel more connected to your body, your environment and your overall wellbeing. Whether that means choosing transparent skincare, taking time to move mindfully or becoming more aware of your daily habits, conscious living is about making decisions that feel considered and sustainable. Pilates is a natural part of this approach, helping you develop greater body awareness, presence and confidence in how you move through life.
