Helen O’Leary

Qualifications: Chartered Physiotherapist (CSP, HCPC registered), Polestar Pilates comprehensive rehabilitation certified. Pre and post pregnancy certified. Pinc and Steel cancer rehabilitation certified

Hi, my name is Helen I am the Clinical Director of Complete Pilates and I do not currently have any set clinical hours. I do offer telephone consultations to ensure you are seeing the right clinician and help answer any questions you have in regards to your rehab and treatment programme.

You will normally find me moving between sites and assisting our team. I am always on hand to support all our instructors with their clinical development and discuss any clients or clinical reasoning.

I am a qualified Chartered Physiotherapist. I graduated from The University of Birmingham in 2008 and have not looked back since!
On leaving university I went straight in professional sports and joined the team at London Wasps Rugby Club. Here, I was lucky to work within a world class multidisciplinary team and it was where my love of Pilates was born. In 2010 I completed my Polestar Pilates Rehabilitation course and began to teach both mat and equipment clinical Pilates. Working with the athletes in rugby showed me the huge benefits and potential strength gains Pilates could achieve. Players quickly reported significant benefits and feeling improved stability and strength in their performance as well as greater body awareness, all of which assisted in the reduction in soft tissue injuries.
After spending three years in elite rugby, I quite literally packed up my bags and ran away to join the circus, accepting a position with Cirque Du Soleil. I then spent the next few years travelling with the touring show ‘Alegria’. As one of only two Physiotherapists on the show, I taught Pilates as part of performer’s ongoing maintenance treatment, to prevent injuries and as part of active rehabilitation. Pilates helped the performers, from tumblers to contortionists, remain strong and healthy throughout a gruelling schedule of up to ten shows a week.

In 2015 I settled back in London and started Complete Pilates. My aim is for us to help people take more responsibility for their rehab and give people confidence to move even when they are injured or ill.

When I am not working, you will find me with a camera in hand exploring and travelling, paddle boarding on the river, spending time with my family and friends or listening to music.
