What is Rehab Pilates?
Our physio-led Pilates classes are either taken by a qualified, clinically trained physiotherapist or are overseen by one. The most important thing is that you see the right person for you. This may mean you start the initial assessment with one of our physios but then move over to someone else depending on your needs. The most important thing to remember is that you will always get re-assessed and can ask to see a physio again at any point.
We offer a completely tailored approach to each individual to ensure you get maximum progression during your rehabilitation. In our initial rehab Pilates session, you will have a full assessment so that we understand your objectives and needs. From this we will be able to get an indication of the best physio or clinical Pilates instructor for you. This may differ for women’s health and oncology clients, as we have clinical Pilates instructors who specialise predominantly in these fields.
If you have seen any consultants, we ask for any clinic letters you may have. This ensures we understand the medical findings and know what the consultant is expecting. All this will help us deliver your rehab effectively. Once we have discussed your injuries and goals, we will incorporate equipment into a bespoke Pilates for a rehabilitation programme to get you moving. You will likely also be given some mat exercises that you can do at home.
Rehab Pilates is all about you. You will be given exercises you can do at home and we also ensure you get the education you need to understand what is happening in your body.

Why should you come to a Rehab Pilates class?
There are so many reasons why you should do Pilates for rehabilitation. As there is currently no governing body in the U.K which standardises Pilates training, the level of teaching can vary dramatically.
We strongly recommend Physio Pilates if:
- You have a current injury
- You have had recent surgery
- You have recurrent pain or injuries which won’t go away
- You have tried classes and haven’t improved
- You have chronic pain
- You are currently undergoing treatment for cancer
- You have recently had a baby or are pregnant
- You have medical conditions or illnesses which make exercise more difficult
- You want individualised attention with a bespoke programme
- You want to improve your sporting performance
- You are struggling with everyday activities
- Your physio or doctor has recommended it and you are looking for someone who can communicate directly with them
Remember that rehab Pilates is all about you so what happens in the class depends on what you need. We can guarantee you that you will move on the equipment and will get home exercises to reinforce your rehab. All you need to do is book in and then wear something which you find comfortable to move in. We do ask you to wear socks in the studios for hygiene reasons. For online appointments, computers work better than phones as you can easily adjust the height and angle of the camera.
