Does pain stop you from doing what you want to do? Do you experience pain every day? Do you want to find a way of managing your pain? Maybe you have you been told that Pilates may be able to help you with this?
Pain can be debilitating and understanding pain it is a great place to start.
Whether it is acute pain from an injury, or chronic pain that you have had for some time, perhaps longstanding low back pain or neck pain. These are the kinds of problems that we see all the time in the Pilates studio.
Many of us at Complete Pilates are physiotherapists and we are very experienced in helping people with problems like yours. Well thought out movement and exercise is proven in helping in alleviating pain symptoms. Our bodies respond well if we can encourage normal movement. When we are in pain, we tend to avoid doing certain things or moving in certain ways. By giving you the opportunity to move more normally, we can help to de-sensitive your nervous system and restore normal function.
The beauty of Pilates is that it can be incredibly assistive. By creating this environment, it allows you the opportunity to get stronger without aggravating your symptoms. Because of this you can work towards your goals, and start to be able to do the activities that you want to do on a daily basis without the limitation of pain.
We always aim to work as part of a wider team. This can be alongside a treating physio, doctor or pain specialist. By working as a group, we can all ensure that what we are doing is going to compliment any other treatment you are having.
We make sure to give you a progressive approach to exercise which does not aggravate your symptoms. Instead, it enables you to be more mobile, get stronger and fitter, and generally be more active. This is not at the expense of increasing your symptoms.
If you have any specific questions or would like to speak to someone, you can contact us.
We look forward to seeing you in the studio soon.
