Hi, my name is Jana and I’m a Clinical Pilates Instructor and Movement Specialist.
I graduated in 2008 with a BA in Physical Theatre from the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. After graduation, I co-founded a contemporary Circus and theatre company, performing and teaching around the world as a choreographer and aerial acrobat. Throughout these years, during the strenuous training regimes, I realised that I needed to learn how to keep both my body and my mind in balance, and found the perfect answer in the Pilates method.
I have always had a passion for how the human body moves and the potential it has. As I started to practice equipment and mat Pilates for myself, I realised how my interest in movement naturally shifted from an artistic/aesthetic point of view, to a more bio-mechanical/clinical one. Recognising the benefits of Pilates, I became a fully qualified instructor with Stott Pilates in 2016. It was around this time that I also discovered Complete Pilates and I fell in love with the clinical focus of their approach. Since this point, I have had the opportunity to work with different mentors and gained experience in different methods, techniques and schools of thought. In 2018, I expanded my Pilates training, completing Polestar Pilates comprehensive rehabilitation programme. I have since kept widening my knowledge and interest in the areas of both Clinical Pilates and rehabilitation, completing multiple women’s health programmes and the pink ribbon post operative rehabilitation programme.
My particular clinical interests are around women’s health and the prenatal and postnatal period. Being a mum myself, I strongly believe in the importance of a correct approach to the postpartum recovery and maintaining strength during pregnancy.
In my free time, I love to discover the world, go to the theatre, eat nice food and get lost in a good book so any recommendations are always welcome!
