Are you worried that you are becoming less steady on your feet? Do you wake up and feel like it takes you a lot longer to get going in the morning? Or are you generally feeling aches and pains more? Maybe you are simply wondering how you can continue to exercise without making any injuries worse?

Pilates can definitely help you as you get older.

The beauty of Pilates is that it can be modified and adapted for all ages and abilities.

At Complete Pilates, we regularly see people up into their late 80s. The body is amazing and is plastic until we die. This means there is always potential for change and improvement. This can be in your general movement, improving your muscle strength, increasing your balance to and generally making you feel more comfortable in your daily life.

Many of us at Complete Pilates are physiotherapists, and we have all taken extensive postgraduate training in clinical Pilates. That means that we are able to assess you and look at you as an individual to see what your needs and requirements are. We then put together a bespoke programme that is specific for you, taking into account any limitations you may have and your medical history.

Because of our medical training, we understand and can take into account any medications you are taking and reason through other underlying conditions, such as osteoporosis, heart problems, diabetes, or cancer. None of these medical conditions, or age itself should be a barrier to you exercising. We can use the equipment in the studio to assist you as well as resist your movements. So if there is things that you find difficult, we can use the equipment to help you break down the movement before helping you to re-build it. This can make it easier than just exercising without equipment or at home.

Our online offering also means that if you do not feel comfortable coming into the studios, we can create a programme for you which you can do in your own environment with things around the house. This can help you grow in confidence, whilst also know you are getting the right care! We specialise in working one to one. This means you have your instructor with you throughout the whole process, making sure that every exercise you do is done well and that your goals are the focus. This the case whether it is online or in person.

As we get older, we should still be able to exercise, and it is actually more important than ever. We want to be able to stay strong and resilient into our older age, so that we can resist any injuries, any aches and pains, and keep our whole body healthy. Exercising also increases the confidence you have to keep you independent for as long as possible.

If you want to find out more about doing Pilates with us, contact us and someone will be in touch as soon as possible.

We look forward to seeing you in the studio soon.
