Here at Complete Pilates we’re lucky to have so many lovely and interesting clients who are dedicated to their Pilates practice. In this months’ Client Journey, we spoke to Emy Vanger, a long-standing client and a Pilates devotee. Here Emy tells all about her experience of Pilates with the Complete team.
Q. What first brought you to Complete Pilates?
I discovered it after I had my second child 14 years ago.
Q. What do you like best about Pilates with Complete?
The teaching level is exceptional. I have had sessions with all the instructors and they all bring something different.
I admire the fact that there is a plan for every client and that, through note taking, everybody is on the same page so that different instructors can work [with the same client] towards their goal.
Also, some of the instructors have physiotherapist backgrounds. [I have found] their understanding of movement and the cause and effect relationship between the slightest tweak in the exercise and achieving maximum benefit/result to be key.
Q. What aspects of Pilates with Complete do you find the most challenging?
I love a good challenge and I derive great satisfaction from completing an exercise which I may have been working towards for a few months.
Q. How has Pilates with the team improved your health?
Before I started Pilates 14 years ago I often had lower back pain. This completely disappeared after a couple of months of starting Pilates. Pilates has also helped me strengthen muscles that helped me manage inflammation following a labral tear (damage to the cartilage around a joint).
It also helped with rehabilitation following a broken arm. I’m so hooked on Pilates that I came to the studio the day following my skiing accident (broken arm) to work on lower body exercises. I love starting my day with Pilates as this energises me and sets my mood for the day.
