Qualifications: Chartered Physiotherapy (CSP, HCPC registered), BSc Sports and Exercise Science, Polestar Pilates comprehensive rehabilitation.
Hi, my name is Michael. I initially qualified as a Sport and Exercise Scientist and after publishing research in the Journal of Sport Science, qualified as a physiotherapist. Since graduating, I have gained a vast amount of experience in assessing and managing a wide variety of musculoskeletal conditions whilst working at large teaching hospitals in Essex and London. I have also worked extensively in the private sector with patients suffering from neuro musculoskeletal conditions including sporting injuries, work-related disorders, problems related to inactivity and chronic pain.
Being a keen squash player myself, I have a keen interest in sports physio having previously worked as a lead squash & table tennis physiotherapist at the Common Wealth Games in Glasgow. I have also worked in competitive squash, martial arts, running, cycling and rugby.
From this experience, I realised that clinical Pilates worked brilliantly alongside physiotherapy in rehabilitation but also in prevention of injuries. Consequently I went on to train with Polestar Pilates, completing their comprehensive training programme. These qualifications complement each other and work with a wide range of patients from the sedentary to the high-level athlete.
Currently, I am splitting my time between Complete Physio and Complete Pilates, where I combine hands on treatment with well-structured and functional Pilates rehabilitation. This could be following an injury or operation or to complement your gym program or training for your sport.
In my spare time, you will find me in the gym, on the squash court and leading community sports programs.
