Ruth Smith

Qualifications: Chartered Physiotherapist (CSP, HCPC registered), Polestar Pilates comprehensive rehabilitation. APPI fully certified. Pre and post pregnancy certified. Pinc and Steel cancer rehabilitation certified

Hi my name is Ruth and I qualified as a Chartered Physiotherapist from Kings College London in 2002. After this I gained a wide base of knowledge from working in a number of London teaching hospitals, moving into the private sector after 4 years in the NHS. At this point I specialised in musculoskeletal physiotherapy and sports rehab. I quickly found that exercise and rehab were the focus of my approach with clients at all levels and began my Pilates training, fully qualifying as a mat-work Pilates Instructor with APPI in 2008. Since then, I have been teaching classes, individual sessions, focused workshops and integrating the technique into my musculoskeletal physiotherapy practice.

As a physio, I have been involved in elite sport with the GB canoeing team, providing physiotherapy support on training camps and international competitions. During these camps, I was able to demonstrate to the coaching teams and athletes the benefits of Pilates in their training for both performance enhancement and injury prevention. Pilates quickly became a core part of their training. Since then I have developed my Pilates training further by completing the Polestar Pilates comprehensive rehabilitation course.

Since joining Complete, I have also furthered my training in cancer rehabilitation with Pinc & Steel and am working closely with nurse specialists in a variety of hospitals to help improve cancer rehabilitation.

When I am not in the studio’s or helping to develop the business you will find me running around London after having signed up for another marathon, spending time with my friends and laughing with my 2 daughters and house rabbit!
